Cat nip

This past week in a course I'm taking we were discussing the ideas of flight or fight.

We all have these primal phases that when stressed we automatically get thrust into.

The facilitator then suggested (apparently via a book she'd read...Waking the Tiger by Peter Levine...will have to read it) there is another set point we could add.

That set point is Freeze!

In the freeze state is a time when we can choose our reactions &/or actions.

Oddly enough we have a ladybug in the livingroom. This ladybug is driving the kittens crazy! They want to get it so bad.

So I knocked it onto the floor so they could check it out.

It froze...stopped moving and layed there 'playing dead'.

It made me laugh really. Even a ladybug knows how to freeze.

Last week my husband and I were at Pet Smart on Hespeler Road when someone drove by and asked us for directions. They wanted to know where the Putt-putt, an indoor mini-putt range, was?

I pointed to the far corner of the shopping plaza which had a very large flashing sign which reads...

PUTT-PUTT

The people in the vehicle laughed at themselves for missing what was right infront of them the whole time.

Life can be exactly like this.

Opportunities are everywhere but sometimes they are so obvious we miss them all together!
