Universal Humour

The Universe has a good sense of humour - I've said this for awhile now and keep getting confirmation.  Like yesterday... I was in line at the Dollar Store.  There were two people ahead of me.  The man paying for his merchandise was 10 cents short.  So the young man in front of me gave him the money. 


The man was so full of gratitude with a ton of, "Thanks a lot buddy!"  and "I owe you one buddy!"  "Thanks, Thanks!"


I smile thinking how nice it was to see the young man ahead of me act like that... an act of kindness.


It was then his turn to cash out.  It came up to $5.10


"Ah... I just gave my dime to that guy!"  He said motioning to the door!


"That's hilarious," I said to him.  And offered up a quarter to pay for it.  The cashier wouldn't take it, she too was going to offer the dime to her til.


You couldn't get rid of ten cents in that store!  LOL


Today is Valentine's Day.  My husband and I couldn't decide where we were going to go for dinner.  Every year we've lived in this town we go to the same place.  So this year neither one of us could decide, but wanted somewhere new.  So I said let's put some ideas on slips of paper.  We'll toss them into a paper bag and let the universe decide.


In went 6 different locations including our usual location.


My husband said, I'm shaking it!  You pick it out!"  He took the bag and shook it with all his might! 


Out of all the slips of paper I chose the same place we always go to! 


Apparently it's meant to be.

Luck of the Irish

Sending you much glitter and maybe even some gold for today & over the upcoming weeks!

We aren't doing anything for St. Patrick's Day, but I did plan and execute (along with my Dad and a few others) to throw a 65th birthday party for my Mum this past Saturday.


It was such fun!  And happily we had a fantastic turn out.  Turns out we had about 50 people who showed up which is really great because they live in another town... trying to plan a party from this distance when I don't know many of her friends made it harder to do but apparently the space didn't matter.






So grateful to the universe for helping everything work out.  Maybe it was the luck of the Irish I had on my side or something?  Let's go with that. 




It's so easy to forget how much support we truly do have around us.  It's times like these that are such a great reminder that we aren't alone and we are so loved.  I'm so thankful for that!

PPS.  I'm also so excited as this week brings us the Equinox, the sun floating higher in the sky, we've got Ostara on the way and it won't be long before we can do those Maypole dances! GOOD BYE and good riddance to Polar Vortexes (or would that be Vortex-I?)

I wish you love not only today but everyday!

Here is a journal page I did to send love and remember to trust the universe.  Isn't it funny that we sometimes believe that we know better than it does?  We have to trust we are always being guided even through the tough times. It can be challenging to remember that no change will occur until we are placed under some form of stress to allow for transformation and change.  So allow the tough times to be your opportunity to grow.  

This page was fun to create... feel the healing energy coming your way when you look at it!

Here is the left side of the page - it's my hands layered underneath there.  The red heart is a card which I wrote "I love you" in it when you flip it open... forgot to snap that for you though!

Here is the right side.  I placed Reiki symbols all over using my gel pen.  Love those things!  Told you I'd be sending along healing energy ... feel that?  Lots of love your way.  Enjoy!

All about attitude

I was reminded of something recently....

And I wanted to let you know about it.

Last Spring I attended the Toronto yoga show and was lucky enough to take a class with Lilas Folan (you may remember her from her classes on PBS teaching Yoga back in the early 70's; she was the woman with the very long braid of hair).

Before she began teaching the class while we were in corpse pose (savasana), a relaxed and meditative state, she read the following poem by Rumi:

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

It truly is a fantastic! Rumi's words combine every success principle I've ever been
taught and wrapped it all up into one succinct thought pattern.

And the best part is it takes less than a minute to read it.

Yep! Less than 1 minute!

The truth is, I constantly find myself applying the simple (yet extremely powerful) "Guest House" principles in my life now and I feel like there is no problem or situation I can't conquer.

Think about it; with all of the negative information out there don't you find it refreshing to think you are being prepared for some "new delight"?

The only thing you need to achieve more joy and happiness is to read the poem and as you go about your day continue with an open mind. Open enough to take a chance on yourself and realize the universe is 'out to do you good'.

The other thing Lilas said in class was, "Welcome all that comes to you this day. And feel welcomed by it."

I think this will be my latest mantra!
