A Special Birth

16 years ago I attended a birth... one of my best friend's daughter was born.  It was one of the most amazing opportunities I have ever had in my life.

Oddly enough I teach HypnoBirthing now and it was the first hand  experience I can fully share with my Mom's.  (HypnoBirthing offers natural child birth classes)

At the time I journalled about the experience.  At the start of this year I came across that journal.  There were so many things I had forgotten about during this day.

For a present I art journalled the whole story and gave it to the 16 year old.
Here's how some of it turned out....

Wishing you a fantastic week with some awesome memories!

PS.  Some of the artwork in this piece are from other's that I printed, cut and paste into this journal.  Most of it is artwork I created myself though.

Dancing in the Full Moon

Happy Full Moon in Aquarius Day!

"You’re a piece of work any way you look at it and a brilliant one at that."

One of the things I do for a living is teach HypnoBirthing® which for those of you that don't know is a Natural Childbirth education series.  It's what the Duchess of Cambridge is said to be using for her current birth.  A wive's tale claims that babies will be born after 10 full moons - so counting the full moons will help you to discern your due date & is said to be far more spot on than your doctor's due date (or the guessing date as it truly is).

When I saw that Kate is in the hospital for delivery I had to laugh... yeppers - full moon day!

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a girl.  What's your guess?

PS.  Oh and if you're looking for me around midnight you'll find me dancing under that gorgeous full moon light!

This is far too good not to share

I received this mailing from a past HypnoBirthing Mom. It's far too good to keep it to myself!

Hi Tammy,

I just wanted to say thanks for the hypnobirthing course (3 months later lol, sorry). We have a beautiful healthy baby boy - John.

I had a really awesome birth experience. Although I had a 22 hour labour and I did have discomfort, I think it was mainly because we were never able to get much practice with Evan's late work hours. But I'm really thankful for what I was able to get out of the program - a birthing without fear. I had no medication and I was calm for the entire labour. The reactions from the hospital staff made me laugh... The nurses couldn't believe I had been in labour for 18 hours when I arrived. I was so relaxed, the nurse trying to put in the IV couldn't lift my arm, she had to ask me to raise my arm because it was too heavy. And the doctor who assessed me actually said "she's not having a baby she's meditating!" The midwives also said I was 'coping' amazinly well - most women are sreaming after that many hours. Overall, I was very satisfied with my birth experience.

I had a third degree tear. I barely felt the tear though, I didn't even think I would need stitches! But I think I could have avoided it if I had more information, or if my labour had been shorter. Other than that, my experience was amazing. I really think that if I hadn't used hypnobirthing I would have had a c-section.

Thanks again for spending the time to teach us how to have a fearless childbirth. It really made a huge difference!
Gloria

Isn't it fantastic???
