Allow

Allow

By Danna Faulds

There is no controlling life.
Try corralling a lightning bolt,
containing a tornado.  Dam a
stream and it will create a new
channel.  Resist, and the tide
will sweep you off your feet.
Allow, and grace will carry
you to higher ground.  The only
safety lies in letting it all in –
the wild and the weak; fear,
fantasies, failures and success.
When loss rips off the doors of
the heart, or sadness veils your
vision with despair, practice
becomes simply bearing the truth.
In the choice to let go of your
known way of being, the whole
world is revealed to your new eyes.

Have a great week!
Much love,
Tammy

Cold and knots

I've not created space lately to dig into my art journal, but this weekend I carved out a bit of time.  I have so many parts of this book to show you but I will save it until it is more complete and then I'll do a flip.

Yesterday I decided I was going to discover how to doodle some Celtic knots.  I can honestly say that I find them gorgeous to look at, but still have to much to learn... maybe it's patience???  They are really challenging.  Even after a few youtube video tutorials I still didn't get it correct so I decided to keep doodling and here is what I came up with:

I actually really like it.

Ok, I'm off to find a sweater and to turn ON the heat its suddenly freezing in here!  Man I hate being cold.

Cheers,
Tammy

A Special Birth

16 years ago I attended a birth... one of my best friend's daughter was born.  It was one of the most amazing opportunities I have ever had in my life.

Oddly enough I teach HypnoBirthing now and it was the first hand  experience I can fully share with my Mom's.  (HypnoBirthing offers natural child birth classes)

At the time I journalled about the experience.  At the start of this year I came across that journal.  There were so many things I had forgotten about during this day.

For a present I art journalled the whole story and gave it to the 16 year old.
Here's how some of it turned out....

Wishing you a fantastic week with some awesome memories!

PS.  Some of the artwork in this piece are from other's that I printed, cut and paste into this journal.  Most of it is artwork I created myself though.

Spread your wings

This is the butterfly inspiration I found over on pinterest:  http://www.pinterest.com/pin/273593746087521014/

I was so intrigued by it I decided to give it a go.  Here's what I've come up with so far....

First I found 6 pages to play with.  Then I glued the outside 4 pages to give it more suppport.

Then I cut the center two pages into the butterfly shape:

Added some water colour for the backgrounds.....

Then added some colour/design to the butterfly itself....

This journal page has taken some time, but I've really enjoyed it.  I'm still far from done, but am in no rush.  I may even make another!

Have a happy & super fantastic week

Believe in Love

I love this piece!  It was so fun to create.

I had some extra bits of mounting foam left over from another project so I decided to use it here.  I adored the background and couldn't think of what to do with it so Zentangles and birdhouses made their way in. I especially love the little kite dangling down - the sideways written words came from font I saw over on pinterest.

Here it is again with better lighting.  The birdhouse on the right didn't mount straight.  It's stuck like that now...

Here is my Pinterest account btw...

Check out my astrology board.  I can't believe how many hits my Zodiac pictures are getting and being shared/pinned.  I'm grateful some are enjoying the hard work that went into them. And oddly enough it is the Aries picture that is winning with 160 re-pins!  Isn't that awesome?

Ok...have a great week and enjoy the beginning of summer

Embracing and doodling

I finally got around to using some of the artwork Leonie Dawson gave away at Christmas, I cut it out and added it to my journal page here:

Then I tried my hand at zendangle/zentangle whatever it's called!  Loved creating this one....

And of course a week can't go past without doing some painting!   I doodled the girls at work, brought them home and cut them out and added them to this background.  It was quite fun!

Have a fantastic week,

Peace Blossoms

I'm finally feeling more at home in my larger journal and have even had some time to play with markers and pencils.  I do enjoy the paint more but this was a fun little doodle to explore:

It was a challenging week to have to say goodbye to Maya Angelou.  I read in class "I know why the caged bird sings" poem.  The first class I read it in, I didn't get through it.  It is the first time in all of my years of teaching that I cried in front of the group.  Her work and life was something I so connected with.  And I, like many others, will truly miss her.

"My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return." ~Maya Angelou

Growing Speechless

Still not sure what words to use on a few pages including this one....
It has to be something quite special as she is sooo adorable and to me looks grateful and so very happy.

Then in my smaller journal being speechless doesn't seem to be a problem,

Enjoy the week all!

Beary Nice

We had a beary nice weekend.. LOL...
Seriously it was nice.  Here is an art journal entry from a few weeks ago.  I keep getting stuck with all of this extra space on my pages the last little while.  It's been challenging to figure out what to write in there so I've been leaving it blank as there is nothing I've been coming up with &/or nothing I really want to say.    That in and off itself is odd!  LOL.. no comments from the peanut gallery

My husband says he likes the bear on the left more than the right.  I like them both but then again I've always been a sucker for a teddy.

Have a great one!

Planning

Here is a journal page I just started last night - love the beginnings of this Owl.... now I have to decide what medium I'm going to complete it with.

Below is a journal of so many possibilities!  The left hand side of the page is one of my favourite Rainer Maria Rilke quotes from his Letter's to a Young Poet .  I just read the whole thing yesterday and highly recommend it.  I definitely need to re-read it again as there were so many nuggets of wisdom in there.  Here is the quote with more to it....

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.” ~Rainer Maria Rilke

And here's one from last week that was fun (and really messy)!   Food and art.... the messier, the better I say!  LOL

The right hand side quote is...
"There is a seed of peace, joy , love and wisdom in each of us." ~Iyanla Vanzant

Bloom where you are

This is one of my handmade art journals.  It's created using old Christmas cards.  I think I showed the journal to you here:  http://fullfillyourdestiny.blogspot.ca/2013/12/new-year.html

So the backgrounds are all complete now I'm enjoying seeing what is blooming on the pages.  The bird in this one was clearly there.  I adore it's face.  I added the girl separately - she's so cute too!
Overall I was super happy with the results of this one.

I keep bouncing back and forth between this small journal and the 27 x 22 cm book.  I'm still a newbie at this so I'd say what I'm finding is the smaller pieces are more appealing to me.... besides, I'm really enjoying the 'wetter' pages so I can get well into the acrylic's and not use the inks or even watercolour for that matter some other's mainly use.  I guess that's how we find our way!

Hoppy Easter weekend to those who celebrate
Much love,
Tam

My Girl

Talking 'bout my girl, my girl
(*ear worm*)

My latest entry - the right hand side of the page only.  She was fun to create and overall I'm OK with her, she didn't turn out exactly as I was hoping.

Believe and Receive...

Let's be open to abundance in all forms!  Let go of the things that have already served their purpose this week and enjoy new hope, new possibilities as opportunities are all around us if we allow ourselves to be open to receive.

Happy Lunar Eclipse days ahead!

Thanks for stopping in

Live the light

I started a new art journal - this one is much larger than my others, to be honest I've yet to fall in love with it, but the art is helping...

I wanted to paint a bird or something in her hand but when I drank my Yogi tea I knew I had to add the tab instead....

Question... How is your New Year's resolution coming along?

3% of people forget they even made a resolution by Jan. 31st and only 18-20% of people follow them through!

Where are you in all of this?

It's important to get clear on what you are wanting. For example if you want Captain Crunch for breakfast you have to put it on your list.  It won't magically appear in your shopping cart.

Remember you need to know where it is you wish to be headed if you are ever planning on arriving there!

PS.  I'm very close to completing my resolution!  I'm hoping by May 24 to be there.. woot!!!

Freedom and a Seagull

We live by a river and see seagulls overhead daily.  They inspired me to use Richard Bach's quote,

"You have the freedom to be yourself, your true self, here and now, and nothing can stand in your way."

That's a lovely thought, isn't it?
Happy Sunday!

Believe its Unfolding as it Should

Bella isn't always as grumpy as she looked in her last picture... here's a better snap.  I love those sparkling eyes!  You can really see the lavender in her coat here.  I love Russian Blue's for this reason.. their fur is so thick and gorgeous!  I just wish she'd let me cuddle her and not just look at her.  Something isn't fair about that...

Here are the last pages of my art journal.  I can't believe I've filled my first one already!  I'll be sad to see this one leave, but happy to be moving into the next one.

Bigger right side... love these people!

Left side.  I stoled the star ideas from Aaron Blazevich (Imperfect Impulses.. Here's his youtube video if you want to see it).  I added the dots on them, they were fun and I'll definitely use the technique again.

My 2nd last page.  It says, "Everything is unfolding as it should"  This is hard to keep in mind and I need to hear it often!

Last week I was over at Shroo's blog and she had finished a lighthouse piece (one of my all time favourite things).  So this is my take. And of course what we thinketh comes to pass so its all about vision baby!  See it and believe it...

Thanks for stopping in!
Enjoy a wonder-filled weekend
Tammy

PS.  I'll leave you with a quote that Ram Dass just loaded onto Facebook which is awesome and I love......
"Let's trade in all our judging for appreciating. Let's lay down our righteousness and just be together.”

Cake eating season, cats and art

Hey all!
Hope you are enjoying the start of Spring!  We didn't do much for Ostara, but I'm on my Spring cleanse so I'm really behaving myself right now!  LOL

Here's some shots of my girls.  This is Bella!  She's afraid of her own shadow, and on average a really grumpy Russian Blue unless you do what she wants you to do.

She gets mad a lot a Sophie.... she's our little Princess.  Sophie is pretty cute until the screeching starts when the lights go out at night and she thinks its time to play.  Her one eye is 1/2 blue and 1/2 green.

Here's a journal entry I did.  I glued crystals on her for earrings... she's so cute.  The cat turned up later on.  I didn't take a picture of the whole thing just this side of the page... the other part says Spring!  Which is here, right?  Someone outta tell Mother Nature so.

And here is the Owl I was talking about the quote I stoled from Donna... "always believe something wonderful is about to happen".  I saw the Owl clock and the dollar store and had to bring it home and paint it.  I'm an owl in Indian lore so I thought it was fitting.  It was fun to create!

Cake eating season is almost over, there are a few more birthday's to go - we'll see if I eat anymore cake, I'm feeling done with them if truth be told!  I'm more of a crave salt type of person but I've given up chips for awhile because I could stop at just one... bag that is!  LOL

Until next time....
Cheers and have a great weekend!

The little things

In my last video I said I re-potted my Bonsai tree.  Here he is before the repot he has a much larger home now and is really happy!

I've had some time over the past few days to journal..

I adore how the colours came out on this one - and even the girl's funky blue hair!  I ended up painting the flowers hot pink after this was taken but this is to gives you the idea...

Years ago I fell in love with this idea,

"The Secret to Life.....
All you have to do is be happy.
Do you know how to do that?
Just be happy!"

This paper was in my window for years.  I decided to put it into the journal.  Funny enough the dog was not originally in this piece.

While I was working out I peaked over to see it and there he was!  After I finished the mass sweat (yes I'm still doing Jillian Michaels cardio) I had to add him in.
Silly Google flipped the picture again...

Then I was searching the internet for a perfect quote to add to this page as it had so much extra space and I came across Donna Downey's upcoming art class and it had this quote on it... "Always believe something wonderful is about to happen."  I loved it so much I had to score it!  I've added it here and onto another project I may share later but for now here's the journal page.

It was still empty so then I added the little Book of Life... this was so fun!

I must say I think we will look back at life someday and realize it is all about the little things and how happy they make us feel.  As you know by now all you have to do is be happy!  LOL

Thanks for dropping in!

PS.  I got a kick out of a Napoleon Hill video I was watching while making this art.  He said to take 5 minutes every morning and have a good belly laugh.  He said something along the lines of "be sure you aren't in the company of others" as you do this!  LOL

PPS.  May you have a good belly laugh today!

PS. Joe Vitale posted this on facebook today and it's great - too great not to share, "You don't fear change. You fear the unknown. If you knew the future would be great, you'd welcome the change to get there. Well, the future IS great. Proceed."

(*Art Journal*) flip through January 2014

I did a youtube video with my full journal, much of it you've already seen here, but there may be some of the pages that didn't make it here.

Also you can see what kind of book I used (thanks to my SIL Stacy from MagicLoveCrow it's come in handy... love it!)

I'll be doing a February flip through soon... will wait until Mercury is out of Retrograde to do so
though!

Thanks for stopping in

Paint on!
