Summer

Finally summer has arrived, but so far the rain hasn't stopped.  Let's hope the entire summer won't be a wash out.
I live in a wooden century home which needs to be painted.  We didn't get to it last year because of construction across the road.  There was so much dust & debris from the construction we weren't able to get close to the job.  And so far this year the weather is stopping us from getting to it as well; either too wet or too humid.
Funny how the universe slows us down sometimes.  Being a Sagittarius I'm not the best at this.  I like to be on the go and get things done.
A few years ago my Mom was hit by a truck (unfortunately) while walking and is still working toward healing from it's aftereffects.  When I told mentioned the slow down she said, "Better to slow down this way than to get hit by a truck."  ... good point Mom!
I'm working toward allowing and accepting this new pace; even if this is the last thing I'm ready to do.  I'm breathing into the openness of the season and enjoying life one moment at a time.
May you allow yourself to slow it down too!
Namaste,
Tammy

Life is Precious

Sadly one of the students who has attended my Yoga classes for the Cancer journey lost her battle.  It's so saddening.  This woman gave it a good fight and her gentle energies will definitely be  missed by myself and the other participants.
Another reminder of just how precious life is.
This week I saw a short clip on  Tao Porchon-Lynch worlds oldest yoga teacher.  http://www.taoporchon-lynch.com  She's amazing at 98 years young; teaching yoga for 45 years!  That is something to look forward to.  And makes my 16 years of teaching seem like nothing LOL.
Anyhow... In the interview she said something along the lines of each morning when she wakes ups she says to herself, "This is going to be the best day of my life!"
Don't you love that? It's fun to try as it brings us back to those moments when we were young and said "this is the best day" so many times.  Life has a funny way of showing us what is "best" doesn't it?  Whatever the day brings and I'll quote another Yoga favourite of mine Lilas Folan:
"Welcome all that comes to you this day and be welcomed by it."
Feel welcomed.
Enjoy this precious moment.
For it could be the best day of your life!

Embracing this moment

Sadly we had a death in the family this week.  It was my Grandmother's brother.  The loss of my Great Uncle means there is no longer anyone living from that generation.  All of my Great Aunt's & Uncles on both sides of the family are gone.  That is so hard to get my mind around.  (Or maybe it's the fact I'm growing closer to 50 that is hitting me harder.)
Death is like that, isn't it?  It makes us stop and think of how we are living.  It can make us face our own timelines.  It's stopping and asking ourselves... am I really living?  Am I experiencing this moment to the fullest?
Time passes and we tend to fall back asleep and return to our auto-pilot ways; until the next death occurs.
It is a reminder to be here now and to open our hearts to a deeper experience of this moment.
Love as fully as you are able... even from afar.  Breathe into this time and trust that it will all work out in the end.  Bottom line we are all headed to that transitional place at some point albeit hopefully later than sooner.  It made me revisit this Jerry Seinfeld quote....
“Life is truly a ride. We're all strapped in and no one can stop it. When the doctor slaps your behind, he's ripping your ticket and away you go. As you make each passage from youth to adulthood to maturity, sometimes you put your arms up and scream, sometimes you just hang on to that bar in front of you. But the ride is the thing. I think the most you can hope for at the end of life is that your hair's messed, you're out of breath, and you didn't throw up.”
Love,

Allow

Allow

By Danna Faulds

There is no controlling life.
Try corralling a lightning bolt,
containing a tornado.  Dam a
stream and it will create a new
channel.  Resist, and the tide
will sweep you off your feet.
Allow, and grace will carry
you to higher ground.  The only
safety lies in letting it all in –
the wild and the weak; fear,
fantasies, failures and success.
When loss rips off the doors of
the heart, or sadness veils your
vision with despair, practice
becomes simply bearing the truth.
In the choice to let go of your
known way of being, the whole
world is revealed to your new eyes.

Have a great week!
Much love,
Tammy

Gratitude and gifts

I think I have the best students on the planet!
I was in tears when I read this one:

"I believe that there are folks on this earthly plane that are "recent travellers" and hold
many angel-like qualities, and you, my friend, are one of them.
Thank you for teaching both me and my mom to be more relaxed, balanced
and grateful in this life. Thank you for your "present-s" each and
every week. It means a lot to us."

Isn't that awesome?

I just finished doing a kundalini class to open the heart chakra and after reading this I think it burst open even more fully.

I'm so grateful for my students - they are aum-azing!  And I am so blessed.
Much love,
Tam

Oh Limitless Being

Do you understand that you really are limitless?   That it is you who sets the rules and regulations for your life?

So many people blame someone else for their experience.  They give away their power and not allow themselves to thrive onward.  Sadly they have already given up.  They have forgotten how to connect.  They have forgotten life is not static.

They have become a slave to the mind (and even worse some to the cell phone... can't put the dang thing down when it sends a text notification they have to respond.  They can't help themselves...oops ... where'd that rant come from?  LOL  OK, ok, ... right now ....back on track..)

Our mind constantly lies to us.  It teaches us that we have a body, feelings, thoughts, time, space and limits.

We are far more than these things.

If we can silence the mind we can discover this truth.  You my friend are a timeless, spaceless, witnessing being, one of spiritual abundance riding around in a physical body.

Here's an exercise to work with.  In meditation repeat the ancient words of Nisaradatta, "I am That" repetitively.

Notice how the mind will attempt to fill in the ____that_____.

Go beyond the lies of the mind and discover the quality of all that "I am".

Remember who you really are.

Do not give up.  You are here to have a glorious experience.

You're only limitations are those you set for yourself.

Reach beyond your limitations with me & let's enjoy this ride!

.. not necessarily in Warrior 3, although it is super fun and be forewarned it may make you smile!

Letting go & Self love

Sometimes when we let go we have to visualize ourselves releasing whatever is holding us back. This truly is one way to help us develop unconditional self love for ourselves.

Wishing you all the best!
Namaste,
Tammy

PS. Here's the poem I was talking about, Derek Walcott's Love after love:

Love After Love

The time will come when,
with elation you will greet yourself arriving at your own door,
in your own mirror and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.

You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart to itself,
to the stranger who has loved you all your life,
whom you ignored for another,
who knows you by heart.

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
~Derek Walcott

Loving yourself is the key

The Secret to life....

all you have to do is be happy.

Do you know how to do that?

Just be happy!

“And you? When will you begin that long journey into yourself?” ~Rumi

May you allow it to begin in this moment?

"Every leaf that grows will tell you: what you sow will bear fruit, so if you have any sense my friend, don’t plant anything but Love." ~Rumi

Understand my dear?

Love
Tam

PS. And Rumi said, "If all you can do is crawl, start crawling."

Begin to use this key today!
Repeat after me, "I love you!"

Use your own name say, " _____________ I love you" Repeat it again and again until you really mean it.

Sometimes this process brings wonder-filled tears... let them flow as you let you, love you!

OM Shanti

11/11/11

There are a lot of people excited about Friday.

The date will be 11/11/11. If we break it down to numerology its 11/11/2011 which is an 8 in numerology.

8 is a power number which helps all of our wishes come true.

However it is the day after the full moon meaning it is a day of clearing.

Being a Friday it's about love/friendship, social activities and strangers.

It is ruled by Venus.

Good colours for Friday's are aqua, green, & pink.

There are a lot of people planning for a super spectacular day (not to mention a lot of weddings being planned).

Who knows the affects of the date. Maybe there aren't any at all. But just to be on the safe side why not build a new vision board, get clear about the direction your life is going in and spread some love!
Cheers!

PS. Past facts....
Did you know World war one ended on 11/11? (1918)

Silly Dad

Had the strangest conversation with my Dad last night. He told me he and Mom had just finished doing their year in review and added some new items to their bucket list. Now all he has to do is get his pictures ready.

"What pictures?"
"Of all the things I want for 2011. We've got everything from our last pictures. Now I just need to find a few more then its done."
"You mean you're vision board?"
"Yeah...one of those"

Then he says - well 2011 is not a big enough number.

"Yeah, it only adds up to a 4. We need those numbers to be larger - like an 8!"

Silly Dad....teaching me about numerology! When I told him he could add in the month and the day to get the numbers larger he said, "Oh, thanks for the tip!"

And that must be the zaniest conversation we've had in a decade!

I'm currently listening to...

to a recording from Bill Harris Mastering Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now online course from Bill Harris http://www.masteringthepowerofnow.com
What a sweet treasure this is!

The first interview is with Zen master Genpo Roshi.

I am SO happy to hear him discuss the ego.

I've said this for a while now. If one is to say they are coming from a place of 'no ego' who is actually saying it?

The ego is.

He talks about the ego rather in a way that is fully aware.

To me this makes much more sense.

I can't wait to hear what else he has to say. Awesome stuff!

PS. Obviously ego can be a bad thing, however on average I believe it gets a really bad rap.

PPS. I just figured out how to play Blister in the Sun (Violent Femmes) on the guitar - riffffffin'

There are lessons everywhere

Yesterday I cleared the front lawn and drive of most of the leaves. While I was working away a baby squirrel scampered under my car.

It was hurt.
Probably hit by a car.

Poor little soul. It was alive but dragging its back end along the ground. It's beside the garage now. I'm afraid it didn't last the night.

I shared this experience over the phone with my MIL.

She said, "Don't even talk to me about squirrels. We are ready to ring all of their necks!"

I thought she'd have a little more 'feeling' for the poor little squirrel at our house. She continued, "We planted over 100 bulbs in the front yard. And the darn things pulled them all out! Now we have holes all over the grass from them digging around."

Now I knew why.

This morning I revisited the conversation again in my mind and realized something....squirrels, in the medicine cards, stand for gathering.

I realized quickly the message: they need to ask themselves what are they gathering? Or what are they buring and not dealing with?

As I analyzed their situation I realized the message was also for me.

I need to be mindful of what it is I'm dragging behind me. What is it I need to let go of? What am I gathering that is no longer useful for me; the dead weight?

Why ask Why

I'm often asked by people why things are the way they are in their lives. Why did they attract a certain situation into their lives? Why they are still working at a job they dislike? Why they haven't created the success or achieved a goal by a specific time?

Yesterday I found the answer.

In Bob Proctor's book You were Born Rich he explains the reason behind this is we love these things.

Are you thinking, HUH?

I do NOT!

But the truth is that love is a vibration. If things are not going as planned it is because you are in the same vibrational frequency as the thing you have attracted.

So, if you want to change the thing (whatever it is) change your vibration. Allow yourself to be open to receive the higher vibration.

It's like I explained to students this week. Allow whatever is reverberating in your life to be received into your body. The bij or seed sound of the heart chakra is yam. It is pronounced YUM.

So allow yourself to be open to lots of yummy-ness!

Cheers!

Secret Boyfriend

I'm listening to one of my Secret boyfriends, Joe Vitale . It's an interview between him and Bill Harris. They are speaking about manifesting your life etc. What I'm finding rather interesting is how everyone (including myself and these two men + countless others) really have hit bottom before they/we have brought really large shifts or changes to life.

Think about the people you know....maybe even yourself. When the largest shifts occur for us its normally after we have been challenged to our limits.

Then we begin to move toward change and afterwards are so thankful to have gone through those experiences.

Definitely a peculiar universe we live in wouldn't you agree?

PS. As it seems March is to come in like a lion, I guess it will go out like a lamb.

Healing Journeys

I received an email yesterday from one of my distance clients. One of the things he said to me was very curious, "I wish healing was as easy as you make it out to be."

Whoa! Is this the impression I left him with? As you well know sometimes the written word does not translate as well as a face-to-face conversation. Maybe I didn't get through to him clearly.

We can take two points of view on this; one from personal experience and the other from knowing that our thoughts create our reality.

From personal experience, my healing journey has been far from easy. To quote Jerry Seinfeld,

"Life is truly a ride. We're all strapped in, and no one can stop it. As you make each passage from youth to adulthood to maturity, sometimes you put your arms up and scream, sometimes you just hang on to that bar in front of you. But the ride is the thing. I think the most you can hope for at the end of life is that your hair's messed, you're out of breath, and you didn't throw up."

As it was explained to me when I was dealing with depression and some serious layers of healing, "If you want to find peace, happiness and harmony, you have to do the work." The transformation has been painful as I'd imagine the shift from a catepillar to a butterfly might me. Although, I'm not sure anyone has ever asked the butterfly?

The second view point we could use is Abraham thinking. If we focus on how hard and challenging healing is, then it will most certainly continue to be. I really must apologize to this individual for leaving the impression that healing is as simple as waving a magic wand. But then again, if we allow our thinking to change, maybe it is?
